Footlight Performers Sparkle For VEC

Students of Wimborne’s Footlight Performance Academy challenged parents and grandparents to take their ballet exam, all in the aid of The Sparkle Appeal! 26 adults trained hard for 6 weeks culminating in a nerve wracking ballet exam earlier this month. Miss Leanne Dade (Manager of Footlight) who conceived the idea and trained the budding ballerinas said “I am extremely proud of what they have achieved. It was a fantastic success and everyone loved the experience especially the children who helped their parents with their homework, whom I’m sure now have a greater appreciation of the art!” Footlight raised a healthy £3,456.78 for the Sparkle Appeal Dorset”. The charity of Victoria Education Centre and Sports College, Poole, specialise in providing education, care and therapy for pupils aged 3- 19 years with physical disabilities, predominantly cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Some of the children’s difficulties are due to accidents, severe illness, tumours or strokes. VEC is one of the few charitable specialist schools in Dorset that offers education, therapy and nursing within an educational setting for children with complex disabilities.
