Grand Prix Day

Lots of photos for you today as Victoria’s Sport’s Week reached Grand Prix Day. The rain just about cleared in time for the students to have a closer look and sit in some of the amazing vehicles on display which was the perfect lead in to our races. The staff and students put loads of effort into completing the allotted laps and enjoyed the big race atmosphere as VIBE Radio’s Tony Rudd set the scene. We held two races one for power chairs and one for self-propelled students with a challenging course across the playground and the sports pitch. In case anyone tired we had a pit lane on hand for refuelling.  Everyone was a winner today but when the numbers had been crunched our racing champions were as follows.

Self-Propelled Race

1st: Philip Henderson

2nd: Elliot Gower

3rd: Amabel Jibson

Power Chair Race

1st: Liam Drummond

2nd: Will Mayer (from Dorchester Middle)

3rd: Sam Moores

Prizes were awarded for many more categories most notably the Road to Rio award for outstanding effort which went to Monty Welstead for running the complete race.

We had a brilliant day and would like give a huge amount of thanks to Miranda Prizes, Paula Allcroft, Daemon Baker from Vauxhall, Tony Bernard and the Can-Am Car Club for making it all possible. Thank you!
