John Lewis

Staff from John Lewis, Branksome paid us a visit recently to see for themselves where a donation of nearly £8,000 has been spent. The money was donated through a grant awarded from the ‘John Lewis Divisional Community Investment Committee’.

A fantastic and much needed ‘Umbrella’ canopy made from colourful glass reinforced plastic was installed for young students in our ‘Early Years’ garden.

John Lewis Branch Manager Emma Greendale said “Victoria Education Centre is a charity close to our hearts. As a student I worked alongside children with profound needs and it is very humbling to watch those who have such struggles on a day to day basis, be so positive. The student’s faces lit up when they first saw the Umbrella Canopy and we are thrilled to be able to support the school in this way”.

Early Years co-ordinator Gill Tuittett said “It is important for the students to enjoy outside space, especially in the summer where they can relax in peaceful surroundings. This canopy offers the perfect amount of shade where our students can sit or lay whilst enjoying movements and sounds around them.”

Headteacher Simon Brown said, “This is a wonderful gift from John Lewis and we want to thank all the staff from the Branksome store for choosing us as their charity. They have supported us on numerous occasions and we are very grateful for that.”
