Swimathon

Ian Braid from the Poole Lions visited us today to present a cheque for £854. The money has been raised and kindly donated to us from their Swimathon event and will go towards funding the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award students’ upcoming trip to the USA. Victoria entered three teams in the Swimathon and swam a combined total of 324 lengths of the Dolphin swimming pool in one hour of continuous swimming as part of a relay team. Physical Activities Assistant Alison Dougal commented

“There were six in a team but it was surprising how quickly your turn came round again….not much time to get your breath back!” Each team had a non-swimming captain who kept a check on the number of lengths swam.

Team 1 was captained by Tom Truong and the swimmers were: Ali Dougal, Simon Dunk, Caitlin Dougal, Jasmine Oddie, Kerry Watson, Stuart Cox

Team 2 was captained by Connor Ferris and the swimmers were: Martin Cook, Hannah Parry, Esther Bromley, Eleisha Bromley, Sharon Pritchett and Tracy Payne

Team 3 was captained by Liz Lee and the swimmers were: Marilyn Gould, Amy Bateman, Max Bateman, Hilary Stewart, Tara Buchanan and Eddy Milne.

The Lions agreed to let us have back any sponsorship money we could raise. We managed to raise a grand total of £845, so congratulations and well done to everyone who was involved and a big thank you to the Poole Lions.
