London Marathon 2018

This year’s London Marathon, which took place last weekend, was officially the hottest on record with temperatures reaching 24.1C (75.3F). This made an already difficult race into something altogether more challenging. More than 40,000 runners took part but Victoria was cheering on two very special runners, Hannah Gilling and Matt Sutton. Hannah completed the race in 4 hours and 36 minutes and reportedly didn’t stop smiling all the way round. There are still contributions coming in but so far Hannah has raised a fantastic £1,745 for our canopy appeal.

Matt completed the marathon in 3 hours 25 minutes and battled with the heat plus some intense leg cramps for 10 miles. Matt’s family made it through the crowds to the Livability cheering point at mile 15 which had a great atmosphere. Matt was able to grab a quick cuddle with his family which gave him a pick-up before soldiering on to complete the route! He was delighted to have completed the race and was really pleased to see his family at the finish. He has so far raised a whopping £3,728.50 for Livability which he has specifically requested to go to Victoria.

We are so grateful to these two amazing people for literally going the extra mile for Livability / Victoria and cannot thank them enough for selflessly taking on this immense challenge on our behalf.
