NEW IPAD FUNDRAISER ANNOUNCEMENT

New technologies and their applications are constantly under scrutiny at VEC to see how best we can use them to augment our students learning and to better enhance their learning experience using newer more exciting ICT access methods. With the advent of the iPad revolution we have been keeping an eye on the development of this innovative device especially within the context of special needs and have been using two for mainly our lower school classes for some time. We believe now is the right time to expand our use of the iPad in the Classroom and to bring its benefits to all our students at VEC. The benefits of the ipads within special needs are manifold.
Our aim is simply to provide an iPad for each class, and to this end we have recruited the help of the classes themselves in raising some of the money needed.

There’s a reason why everyone’s talking about iPads… their accessibility features are amazing, they are instant and easy to use and they really can be used as assistive devices for our students. From apps that help with orientation & mobility to high-tech communication application software, the iPad is becoming a go-to device for children with special needs.”
Teachers and TA’s will be looking for innovative ways to raise funds with raffles and cake sales through to auctions and tombola already being considered.
Along with the Ipads we will also be purchasing a synch and charging Trolley so that they can be centrally managed and kept secure.
