Step Into Sport!

Today we played host to The Youth Sport Trust’s ‘Step into Sport’ Event. These events focus on the development of leadership skills in SEND and non-SEND young people. During a busy day of activities, the young people develop the communication and organisational skills vital to improving their ability to lead in sport. They learn specific activities which can be used in school, as well as tools to adapt activities to think inclusively.
Paralympic swimmer David Hill gave a keynote speech to get the day underway. The students were excited to meet David who is a 2 x Paralympian in Swimming & Triathlon, World & European Medallist, British Champion and was TeamGB’s Youngest Athlete at the Athens 2004 Paralympics and Top 10 Finisher in the Rio de Janerio 2016 Paralympic Games. Huge thanks to Dan Moody from the Dorset Leadership Academy, Rob Belbin from The Youth Sports Trust and Sam Cox from Poole School Games who all worked hard to organise the day.
