Occupational Therapy week

Occupational Therapy week is over and the last few days the team has been raising awareness at Victoria of the pivotal role that Occupational Therapy has in the day to day lives of our students. Parent’s and staff information sessions have been well attended and their ‘Oh Tea’ drop-in café has raised £65.70 for FOVEC by selling scrummy cakes and drinks. The team were also guests on a VIBE radio special. It has been a revelation to some staff just how wide ranging the role of Occupational Therapy is at VEC. As well as the physical aspects of splinting and providing the correct seating for students they also work jointly to provide wheelchair skills training, ICT access support sessions including switching and rebound therapy (rebound therapy is a model of exercise therapy which uses trampolines to provide opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across the whole spectrum of special needs). Thanks to the team for organising a very interesting and educational week.
