World Book Day

Today we joined the nation in celebrating World Book Day. Our school day was filled with lots of exciting activities celebrating reading for pleasure. The day kicked off with a fancy dress parade. Staff and students dressed as their favourite literary characters and lots of effort went into some brilliant costumes. Our reading swaps were a huge success with Teachers and some of our older students swapping classes to read their favourite books in groups. A very special Harry Potter scavenger hunt was organised and we had an all-day book swap event where our students could bring in a book and swap it for one they haven’t read.  We took part in the BBC Live lesson and there was the opportunity to design a book token and enter a national competition. It really was a fabulous day and we are extremely grateful to parents, carers, staff and students for entering into the spirit of the day wholeheartedly. Special thanks to Liam Paice for organising the scavenger hunt and also to David Henley for organising a fun and ‘booktastic’ day.
