Bagpipes stir through VEC

Victoria reverberated to the stirring sound of the pipes this morning as Class CN learned about St Andrew’s Day. The theme for this term is ‘celebration’ and Class CN have been looking at how and why we celebrate National Saint’s Days. St Andrew’s Day was chosen as a topic by class students Abbie Graham and Charlotte Wakefield and after a very interesting presentation by Charlotte our special guest Jim Garrioch of the Scottish Caledonian Society stirred the pipes into action to bring a very authentic feel to proceedings. Haggis was available to try and Jim stayed long enough to describe what St Andrew’s Day means to the Scots. A huge thank you to Eileen Ridout for organising and Jim Garrioch and his Wife for bringing a little piece of Scotland to Victoria.
