Creative Arts Week

Creative Arts Week has launched this week and our students are looking forward to a week of off timetable activities with a distinctly Shakespearean flavour. The theme is being carried right across the arts spectrum from movies in our ‘Globe Cinema’ to ‘Quills and Cross Stitch’ in crafts. We will be looking at Elizabethan music, candle and pomander making and a visit from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Resonate’ String Quartet and much more besides. All of these themes were touched on in our Creative Arts Week introduction film which you can watch below.

Creative Arts Week

More news –

We can’t believe nearly two days of Creative Arts Week has flown by already. Students have been sampling the arts and enjoying getting to grips with musical instruments, making Elizabethan pomanders and watching movies in our mini film festival at VECs very own ‘Globe Cinema’. We have also been entertained along the way. The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Resonate’ string quartet has played an enchanting selection of music, with some of the students getting to grips with the double bass. At break today our friends ‘On Another Note’ performed for us with their lovely choral renditions of classics ‘Man in the Mirror’, ‘True Colours’ and school favourite ‘Let it Go’ from the film ‘Frozen’, among others, which we all joined in with. Lots still to come this week, culminating in our ‘Strictly Come Shakespeare’ talent show on Friday afternoon.
