Maths Week Sock Hunt

A blustery day today but students from class Kingston enjoyed the afternoon sunshine with a sock hunt on the woodland walk. The activity was part of this year’s Maths Week, with the theme of ‘Dress to Impress’. Once found, the students sorted, matched and paired the socks in line with the core themes of the week. Finding items that are the same or alike can include finding items with the same specific characteristic (colour, size or shape). Teaching our students how to match and classify is an important part of developing early maths skills because these skills help them identify and describe relationships between items.
