Meru – from disabilities to possibilities

If you look after, work with or support one or more disabled children who is between 3-14 years old and requires postural support for sitting and is able to toilet in the conventional manner (i.e. not using a catheter or stoma bag you will know of the struggles involved in using them in public toilets.

My name is Susie Westby and I am studying product design engineering at Loughborough University. In partnership with MERU, a children’s charity that designs specialised equipment for children and young people with disabilities (www.meru.org.uk), I am designing a portable toilet seat/system that provides postural support when using public toilets for my final year project.
