Money raised by the Dorset Golf and Country Club

Paul Schmieder and Vicky Kardas from the Dorset Golf and Country Club came into school on the 8th February to present us with a cheque for £8104.31. We were very lucky to be nominated as the Captains charity during their tenure as the club’s Captains in 2014-15. The club, which is situated in Bere Regis, held many events including charity days and raffles and managed to secure match funding from Barclays. Money was also raised by the bowlers of the DGCC. With this amazing sum of money, which will go a long way, we are going to purchase an Eye Gaze computer system for use in our speech therapy and environmental control sessions.  For some of our students who have difficulty physically using a computer, eye gaze technology offers a quick and easy to understand way of accessing ICT with the use of their eyes. On hand to gratefully receive the cheque from Vicky and Paul was Head of Speech and Language Therapy Sarah Gilling (with an Eye Gaze system behind her). On behalf of everyone at Victoria we send a huge THANK YOU to the golfers and bowlers of the DGCC.
