Old Friends Return

September 18, 2024 in News

Two Australian gap students, who lived and worked at the school for a year when they were 17, returned this week to visit and see old friends. Shonade Ceccato completed a gap year at the school in 2008, and her sister, Tara, came in 2010. Gap students would live in a staff residential flat and work in care, therapies and in education during their time in England to get an amazing experience in special education. Many gap students went on to be professional therapists or work in education.
When the sisters arrived, they saw ex-students David Young (The Shouting Mute) and Harry Bassett working on a new play at the Lighthouse in Poole, which our current students have been helping with. Tara and Shonade were bowled over by the nostalgia they felt coming back and say working in the school had a profoundly positive effect on their lives. The ladies have travelled Europe in a month away and are off to Dubai next but they had to make the trip to Poole to see the school and visit friends. We wish them all the best on their travels and in the future.
