Pete Thompson – Marathon Man

We were delighted to welcome Pete Thompson to Victoria yesterday when he came in for a VIBE Radio interview as part of our preparations for Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 14th-20th May. Pete has the distinction of running an incredible 44 marathons in 44 days, a marathon within every country in Europe. He also won a prestigious Pride of Britain award as ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ and has raised a staggering £20,000 plus for Livability Holton Lee’s Flourish project and mental health charity Mind.

Our students asked Pete about his role in highlighting mental health issues as well as how he prepares for his MarathonsForTheMind challenges. Pete also spoke about his up-coming challenge of running the Tour de France in 70 days which amounts to an incredible 30 miles a day over 70 days totalling 2069 miles. It was a pleasure for staff and students to meet someone so dedicated and focussed, a real inspiration.

We will post the full interview right here next week during our Mental Health Awareness Week activities. For more information on Pete’s incredible adventures or if you would like to donate to his latest challenge, visit his website at:
